Trichomonas

A parasite that can cause inflammation of your vagina, cervix or urethra. Both men and women can be infected with trichomonas, but women may have more symptoms


How is it transmitted? Trichomonas is transmitted through genital fluids. If you are treated for trichomonas, it is important that your partner get treated, too, so you do not get reinfected.

What are the symptoms? For women, symptoms include a green, frothy vaginal discharge. In men, burning when you urinate is a common symptom although no symptoms may occur.

How is it treated? Antibiotics

How do I lower my risk? Use a condom for vaginal sex.
